The theme for the 2014 Pastors’ Conference is “The Pursuit,” based on 1 Timothy 6:11. Pastors are called to flee the passions and pursuits of worldly living to live content in the care and provision of the Lord. They are called to pursue personal holiness anchored in unwavering faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
The conference president is Josh Phillips, pastor of Cherry Grove Baptist Church in Cerro Gordo.
The conference is free to attend and registration is not required.

Southern Baptist Evangelist
Evangelist Rick Coram is founder and president of Rick Coram Ministries, Inc. He has been preaching the gospel since the age of 16. After receiving his Bible education, he served on church staffs both as student minister and senior pastor. Then in September of 1988, he entered the field of full-time vocational evangelism.
Rick has preached over 1,100 revivals and crusades in 38 different states. Since 1995 he has been a featured speaker at many state and national Bible conferences.
Senior pastor, Mount Vernon Baptist Church, Boone
Greg Heisler received his Master of Divinity in missions, evangelism and church growth in 1998 and his Doctor of Philosophy in Christian preaching in 2003 from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky. He has served in numerous churches as pastor and interim pastor since 1997. From 2004 until 2012 he served as associate professor of preaching at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Senior pastor, Higher Ground Baptist Church, Kingsport, Tenn.
Phil Hoskins is a native of Kingsport, Tenn. He attended East Tennessee State University, Milligan College, and received his Doctor of Theology at Andersonville Baptist Seminary.
In January 1991, Phil accepted the pastorate of Higher Ground Baptist Church in Kingsport. At that time, the church membership was under 200. Under his leadership, the church has grown to the present membership which now exceeds 3,700, with over 2,800 additions by baptism. God continues to bless, and the church moved into a new auditorium that seats 2,500 in August 1998.
Founding Pastor, Imago Dei Church, Raleigh
Tony Merida is the founding pastor of Imago Dei Church in Raleigh, NC. He also serves as the associate professor of preaching at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is married to Kimberly, with whom he has five adopted children.
Tony is the author of Faithful Preaching and Proclaiming Jesus. He is also the co-author of Orphanology.
Tony speaks around the world at a variety of events, including church planting conferences, pastors’ conferences, orphan care events, student camps, and for courses at theological institutions.

Bob Pitman began preaching at age 16 and has been preaching for 50 years. For 33 years he served as a senior pastor in churches affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention.
Bob is a native of Florence, Ala., where he graduated from Coffee High School in 1965. He received his bachelor's degree in 1970 at Samford University in Birmingham, Ala., and received his Master of Divinity in 1977 and his Doctor of Ministry in 2004 at Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis, Tenn.
Robert Smith Jr.
Professor of Christian Preaching, Beeson Divinity School, Birmingham, Ala.
Robert Smith Jr. serves as professor of Christian preaching at Beeson Divinity School. He previously served as the Carl E. Bates associate professor of Christian preaching at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky. A popular teacher and preacher, he received Southern’s 1996 Findley B. Edge Award for Teaching Excellence. An ordained Baptist minister, he served as pastor of the New Mission Missionary Baptist Church for 20 years.
Pastor, First Baptist Church, Spartanburg, S.C.
Don Wilton has served as senior pastor of the First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, S.C., for 19 years. He also serves as president of The Encouraging Word television ministry. This ministry reaches thousands of homes through the regional CBS-affiliate, WSPA-TV, and millions of homes both nationally and globally through the broadcast of The Encouraging Word.
Don has served as president of the South Carolina Baptist Convention and is a frequent speaker for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association at the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove, as well as the Billy Graham Schools of Evangelism held around the world.
